Variety: Gamay
Country: France
Region: Brionnais, Auvergne
Terroir: Sandstone
Farming: Organic
Fining/Filtration: None

ABV: 13.5%
Description:
Le Bois Dieu was established by Salma Cassam Chenaï and Frédéric Thiry who in 2015 moved to the commune of Semur-en-Brionnais, an hour west of Macon on the eastern side of the Loire River, to restore an old agricultural estate and work with its plots of old gamay vines.
In addition to making wines from their own vineyard, Salma and Frédéric also make wine from fruit bought from other friends in the area, and from elsewhere in France. This wine comes from gamay grown in Payzac, in the Ardèche, by Jocelyn Vigoroux, and was raised semi-carbonically in a mixture of steel tank and sandstone jars.
Compact and concentrated with generous and spicy dark red fruit, velvety tannin and relaxed albeit balanced acidity, this is a delicious and approachably fruity style which shares in much in common with many of our favourite grenache blends from the Rhone, Ardèche and other warmer regions in France’s south.

Producer: Clo
Vintage: 2022
Variety: Chardonnay
Country: Australia
Region: New South Wales
Terroir: Basalt
Farming: Organic
Fining/Filtration: None
Added SO2: None
ABV: 12.5%
Description:
Clo is the project of Chris Loth, longtime member of the team at Annandale Cellars in Sydney and now a very talented winemaker, with the establishment of his Clo project in 2013 coupled with stints in France with such wonderful producers as Jean Foillard and François Rousset-Martin.
This comes from the high-elevation vineyard of Gordon Hill in Orange, NSW. The grapes were hand-picked and basket-pressed to old barrels for fermentation on full solids, and later left untopped for 12 months to develop oxidative characteristics under flor. The final wine is medium-weighted and fresh with stone fruit primary flavours underscored by layers of secondary and tertiary nuance, abundant in saline and nutty characters which lend savoury intensity.
Another brilliant offering from an exciting producer who has recently been going from strength to strength. Cheers Chris!

Producer: Francois Blanchard
Vintage: 2015
Variety: Sauvignon Blanc
Country: France
Region: Loire Valley
Terroir: Clay, Silex
Farming: Organic
Fining/Filtration: None
Added SO2: None
ABV: 12.5%
Description
11 years old and off-dry, François Blanchard's 2015 Voila is a masterpiece fully built for the dining table.
2015, for us, remains one of the most impressive Loire Valley vintages we've tasted, albeit one that produced dense, layered and compressed wines that simply demanded years to begin unfolding to reveal their true detail and complexity.
This was even more the case in wines from old, very low yielding vineyards like this site south of Tours.
Even at this age, this sauvignon, grown on enormous fragments of silex a stones throw from Chinon, is a young wine with several decades of hugely rewarding, information-revealing cellaring ahead of it.
Right now it's sheer magic with a meal, that concentrated 2015 acidity showing with clarity and the sweetness marrying impeccably with food.

Producer: Lucy M
Vintage: 2025
Variety: Savagnin
Country: Australia
Region: Adelaide Hills
Terroir: Black Sand, Schist
Farming: Biodynamic
Fining/Filtration: None
Added SO2: None
ABV: 12.5%
Description:
The next instalment of what has so far been a brilliant harvest for Anton and his team, this is savagnin from a biodynamic site in McLaren Vale which was direct-pressed to ceramic eggs for fermentation and elevage.
A less oxidative example of the variety with a whisper of plump primary texture, this is medium-bodied and classical with pinot gris-esque cut pear aromatics and a concentrated palate of orchard fruit and lees invigorated by a lightly pithy back-palate.
A delicious and well-made wine and a thoughtful counterpoint to the savagnin wines of the Jura.
