CDVA Magdalena Chardonnay 2022
Beaujolais, France Giboudot Chardonnay , Chardonnay Blanc, Chardonnay Rosé, Chardonnay Muscaté ABV: 12.5
There are literally more than 140 varieties of grapes in this emblematic cuvee from Karine and Cyril Alonso’s ground breaking Beaujolais domaine The Conservatoire des Vignes Anciennes.
This tiny ampelographic conservatory, high in the hills near Marchampt, grows on grey and pink granite and the wines are brutally precise, pure and correct.
We’d go so far as to say this is one of the most fascinating farms and wineries in France. The farming is only a few steps away from permaculture and the property is surrounded by 400 hectares of forest.
Having made wine under their negoce label ‘PUR’ for many years, Karine and Cyril pruchased this property in 2016 and bottled their first wines from the 2019 vintage.
Across the board they are exceptionally well made.
