Jordi Llorens Blankaforti 2019

A$49.00

Catalunya, Spain
Cabernet, Grenache, Syrah
13% ABV.

Jordi farms 15 hectares of vines in the hills of Conca de Barberà situated within the Tarragona province of Catalunya. These vineyards, planted in particularly dry calcareous soil, have been in Jordi’s family for generations and have only ever been farmed organically.

Jordi makes some of our favourite wines in the world, year in, year out. The reds are medium-bodied with palate-staining Mediterranean fruit, fine and polished tannic structures, and a feeling of weightlessness on the palate that only comes from soils like this, with very high limestone content.

2019 was a warmer year, with a long growing season resulting in concentrated and physiologically well-ripened fruit. After fermentation and elevage in tank and amphora, Jordi chose to bottle Blankaforti with a small amount of residual sugar, which, 5 year later, has resulted in a lightly frizzante red wine which has many of the hallmarks of top-quality Lambrusco, albeit with slightly gentler petillance. There are various shades of red and darker fruit from the three varieties, with delicious primary character from the style of handling lightly peppered with some subtle tertiary nuance from the time in bottle.

With the freshness from the limestone, the fine tannins and the slight petillance, this is particularly enjoyable to drink chilled.
