Lucy M Sangiovese Barbera Nebbiolo 2024
Adelaide Hills, South Australia
Sangiovese, Barbera, Nebbiolo
12.5% ABV.
A delicious blend of red Italian varieties, with sangiovese from the Deans in Piccadilly and Pooks Hill in Totness, barbera from Zerrellos and nebbiolo from Brackenwood in Hope Forrest. The fruit was grown on a mix of soils, with mainly red clay and petrified schist, during the cool and very favourable 2024 season.
All of the fruit was macerated carbonically together as whole bunches for 4 days before being pressed off to ceramic for fermentation and elevage.
This is medium-bodied, classical and convincingly Italian in style, with all the varieties able to be clearly seen while working harmoniously together in the blend. There’s spicy fruit in the realm of dark cherry and plum, with rose petal aromas complemented by subtle herbs, smoke and earth.
A wonderful option as the weather grows cooler and another compelling instalment of this very excellent 2024 release from Anton and the team.
