L'egrappille MO(S)O 2022

A$120.00

Auvergne, France
Lightly sparkling gamay d’Auvergne
11.5% ABV.

The next instalment of one of our favourite wines, year after year.

Catherine Dumora is the most maternal farmer we know. Her approach to vine management focuses almost exclusively on health and well-being with an emphasis on developing natural resistance with a very limited use of sprays including homoeopathic and herbal applications.

Catherine's 1.5 hectares of old gamay sits on a west facing slope of regionally unique terroir, the typical basalt of the region here giving way to granite, schist and quartz with deposits of calcareous matter.

After a delicious rendition of the cuvee in 2020, which was a dry and very mineral still wine, we’re excited to see this wine returning to the style that we saw in 2019 – lightly sparkling and just off-dry.

There’s lift and lightness from the bubbles, with just a touch of residual sugar providing depth and concentration, and textbook varietal fruit with well balanced acidity. The style is ultimately very versatile, and would do nicely as either a festive party-starter or an accompaniment to sichuan food.
