3 vintages of Sylvain Martinez Corbeau
Loire Valley, France
Grolleau
It’s not often we’re able to offer 3 vintages of the same wine, all tasting great in their various ages and stages of evolution. But right now, these 3 iterations of Sylvain Martinez’ brilliant cuvee Corbeau are all, in their own way, absolutely shining.
Sylvain’s grolleau grows on sand near the village of La Thoureil in Anjou, and always has wonderfully peppery aromatics as a result. The wine is macerated for an extended period, creating gorgeous depth and minerality, before being run to barrel. Generally speaking, it is a medium bodied wine with slightly lower alcohol levels.
2013 was a slightly higher acid year, which has kept the wine nice and fresh after 10 or so years, and the wine is now very pure and grapey, with silky, polished tannic structure.
2017 is also in a great window, with lovely balance between primary matter and more developed character from the time in bottle.
2020 has been another great, great year for the wine, with excellent conditions leading to perfect physiological ripeness, and the wine is already deep and complex even at this relatively early stage.
These wines are all available individually, but we are happy to offer a discounted price when bought as a three-pack. Quantities of the full three-pack are very limited, so be quick!
