A barrel-fermented riesling made with oxidative handling and just a little bit of skin contact.
Tim and the team have worked with the riesling at Metcalfe since 2015 and took over management of the site in 2019. The site is unirrigated, planted over deep granitic sands and clays, and gives fruit with plenty of natural acidity.
A stunning bottling with lots of complexity and drive, this is detailed, taut and saline, with restrained notes of dried apple, nashi and citrus balanced by lovely mealy character from the lees.
