From one of the pioneers of natural wine in Spain. Carlos Alonso moved to the far north of Spain in the mid ‘70s after finding a tiny hamlet called Els Vilars, just north of Espolla. The buildings were all ancient and totally dilapidated and over the following years Carlos and his young family restored the buildings and planted the vineyard.

The first wines were made in the late ‘70s and are now some of the most distinctive wines we know of. They are all picked at full ripeness and then often aged for several years. They are all made in ceramic tanks that Carlos designed and made himself.

This 2017 is now very complex and mature. It's ripe and relaxed, with some lovely tertiary character in the way of leather and dried fruit.

To be enjoyed in cool weather, with a hearty dinner or some ripe cheese.
