Dominique Dufour Les Aussigouins 2021
Loire Valley, France
Chenin Blanc
13.5% ABV.
Dominique Dufour makes tiny quantities of chenin blanc from his small parcel in Rablay-sur-Layon. The vineyard has belonged to his family for generations and has been under his management since 2014, with a large part leased to Mai and Kenji Hodgson and the remainder being farmed by Dominique himself. His parcel is south-facing and planted on schist, and yields are intentionally kept very low. The wines are pressed to barrel and see lengthy elevage there before bottling.
These are deep, concentrated, expertly made and very rare.
