François Blanchard Voila 2020

A$76.00

Loire Valley, France
Sauvignon Blanc
ABV: 14.5%

This is an opulent, complex wine of incredible depth. The grapes are picked at an almost exaggerated ripeness, pressed directly to barrel for two years of elevage. There’s sweetness that is beautifully matched by acidity and texture. Notes of citrus, honey, earth and salt. The generosity of this wine is meant to be shared with friends and even better with cheese.

A jazz musician, aikidoka, and profound farmer, Francois Blanchard makes some of the most fascinating and energetic wines in Touraine. Located just SW of Chinon in La Grand Cléré, he farms 4 hectares  of sauvignon blanc, cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc – most of which was planted by his grandfather 50 years ago. Francois is truly an artisan at heart, making decisions with intuition and experience. His dedication in the vineyard is self-evident in the complexity, tension and concentration of his wines.
