R. D'Meure Estate Dry White 2021

A$75.00

Huon Valley, Tasmania
Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc
12.2% ABV.

This is estate-grown pinot gris and sauvignon blanc macerated on skins for three weeks prior to elevage in stainless steel and glass demijohn. It’s medium-bodied and supple, with sweet but restrained primary fruit accented by layers of savoury spiced character from the whole bunches.

R. D’Meure was born of the partnership between Tasmanian winemakers Rory Duggan and Dirk Meure. Dirk is Rory’s uncle, and together they farm one of Australia's most southerly-planted vineyards on the shores of the D’Entrecasteaux Channel, overlooking Bruny Island.

The 1ha site was planted in 1991 to pinot noir and chardonnay, with small amounts of merlot, cabernet franc, malbec, sauvignon blanc and pinot gris as well. With yields intentionally kept low, these wines are made in very small quantities from concentrated, high-quality fruit, with a sense of elegance owing to both the cool site and ultra-precise, experienced winemaking.
